Marine Vessel Environmental Performance and Rating System, Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Ship Efficiency – SNAME Environmental Initiatives Outreach |
| |
Various environment-focused Technical and Research efforts are underway at The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME). Today’s discussion will focus on efforts to provide metrics for measuring the environmental soundness and energy efficiency of marine vessels large and small, as well as a review the various measures available to reduce GHG emissions including an assessment of the effectiveness of the IMO proposed EEDI. The goal is encouraging optimization of design and improvements in overall efficiency.
This will be an interactive discussion between a group of presenters and the attendees, as the first public discussion and outreach of these quickly developing initiatives. Feedback from the audience will be incorporated in this work. |
